Data sources by Province

The following page describes the data files and data sources that are captured in the Brewstats Database.

Newfoundland

For Newfoundland, there will be information coming from two sources: brewers and the liquor board.

Domestic Data

For Domestic Products, all the data is inputted online from the brewer. The Following brewers are the ones that currently report their sales:

  • Big Rock
  • Labatt
  • Molson
  • Moosehead
  • Pump House
  • Sleeman
  • Storm

Report in Bottles, Cans and Kegs,(some report the on/off premise). We can store on/off premise without reporting it? please advise on this. Also, If they wanted to send us information with brand breakdown in CSV format in the future, can we upload it (of course, in the required format).

Imports

For Imported Sales, we get 3 reports.

  • One from the NLLC
  • One from Labatt
  • and one from Molson

Each one consists of a country and a total value. There is no breakdown by brewer or container type. We get them in a breakdown of country UnitedStates, UnitedKingdom, etc. and we add them together to get the final volume for NFLD. Newfoundland Imports

Prince Edward Island

Data is provided by the provincial liquor board as well as by brewers.

For Domestic Sales, there are two sources for PEI. The PEILCC and the individual Brewers. Currently the following brewers are reporting:

  • Labatt
  • Molson
  • Sleeman
  • Pumphouse
  • Moosehead

But we would not select them, as we would be mostly interested in sales from the liquor board.

For Imported Sales, we would get sales from the liquor board. (similar again, where the brewer data is not active)

Nova Scotia

Data is provided by the provincial liquor board as well as by brewers.

Data for Nova Scotia is primarily from the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation. We also receive data from the individual brewers:

  • Big Rock
  • McAuslan
  • Propeller
  • Unibroue
  • Labatt
  • Molson
  • Sleeman
  • Pumphouse

Again this is similar to PEI data, where we get data from the brewer but ultimately we use the data from the liquor board.

Liquorboard Data - NSLC

  • Sales File: ACDSaleYYYYMM.txt
  • CR_BRAND.txt
  • CR_STORE.txt

New Brunswick

Data is provided by the provincial liquor board as well as by brewers.

  • Big Rock
  • McAuslan
  • Unibroue
  • Labatt
  • Molson
  • Sleeman
  • Pump House
  • Moosehead

Again, similar to PEI and NS, use the liquor board data while keeping the submissions also.

Quebec

Data is provided by the provincial liquor board as well as by brewers.

In Quebec, the liquor board doesn't give us access to any information about canadian beer sold. All our data comes directly from the brewers:

  • Brick
  • McAuslan
  • Nord
  • QBA
  • RJ Brewers
  • Sleeman
  • Unibroue

They should be inactive on the left part of the form. The SAQ does not provide any data on domestic sales.

Ontario

Data is provided by the provincial liquor board, The Beer Store, as well as by brewers.

Liquor Board Data - LCBO

Packages Report

The Packages Report contains bottles and cans sold by the LCBO.

Keg Report

The Kegs Report contains kegs sold by the LCBO.

The Beer Store Data

The Beer Store Report contains sales for bottles, cans, and kegs sold by The Beer Store. This report also contains shipments to the LCBO which must be removed to avoid double-counting.
